Ujjain, the city of Mahakal, 21 lakh earthen lamps will be lit in Mahashivratri
A grand event of lighting the lamp is going to be held on the occasion of Mahashivaratri on February 18 in Ujjain, the city of Mahakal in Madhya Pradesh. During this, about 21 lakh earthen lamps will be lit in the city of Mahakal under the Shiv Jyoti Arpanam-2023 programme.
About 21 lakh earthen lamps will be lit in Ujjain, the city of Mahakal, on February 18, Saturday, on the occasion of Mahashivratri, under the program ‘Shiv Jyoti Arpanam-2023’. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave this information on Saturday.
There will be an attempt to make a Guinness World Record
A government official said that an attempt will be made to make a Guinness World Record by lighting 21 lakh lamps on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. Chief Minister Shivraj reviewed the preparations for the Mahashivaratri festival and said that the festival of Mahashivaratri will be celebrated on February 18 like Diwali in Ujjain.
Officials said that under the Shiv Jyoti Arpanam-2023 program in Ujjain, earthen lamps will be lit at the city’s temples, banks of Kshipra river, commercial places, houses and important intersections. He said that last year on Deepawali, a world record was created by lighting 15.76 lakh lamps in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
Candles will be lit from the match box
Collector Kumar Purushottam said that extensive preparations have been made for the lamps to be lit in all temples, public places, every house and establishment. Shiv Jyoti Arpan program will establish Ujjain on the tourism map. The program will be zero waste. In this, chairs, pots etc. will be made in the garden by reusing empty oil bottles. Paper match boxes will be used to light the candles.
